Amazing Beginnings!
First ever poetry night at Perks and Corks a fabulous success! Thanks to all you lovers of words who came and listened, read, performed, and drank! Thanks to P&C for hosting it. What a cool way to spend a Monday night... we hope to be back next month. Meanwhile take note that National Poetry Month approaches and watch this blog for upcoming poetry events worthy of your gasoline money.

It was even better than I had hoped. I loved the variety of styles we saw from the readers, and I thought that it was one of the best crowds I've ever seen at an open mic event. Everyone seemed to be listening and supporting the readers. It was exactly what I had hoped for as far as a welcoming environment for people braving the spotlight.
For all the attraction of reading near the college campus at past readings, I was excited to see the turn out down South.
I'm looking forward to the next event.
By the way, is that a Davis original photo on the homepage? It's beautiful.
